Animal Evaluations in New York
At Boundless, we primarily serve humans-- but we're also big animal lovers. We strongly believe in the healing power of our furry friends' companionship and we're here to help connect you and your pet to supportive resources. If you struggle with symptoms of anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other mental health issues, getting your pet certified as an emotional support animal (ESA) may be a great option for you.
I have a mental health concern.
Why should I certify
my pet as an ESA in New York?
Studies have shown that spending time around animals, even for just a few minutes a day, can help reduce stress and anxiety levels, release endorphins, lower blood pressure, and decrease heart rate. Read more about the science here.
You might be thinking, but do I qualify?
That's where we come in. We proudly conduct ESA evaluations for individuals in true need of this specialized level of emotional support. The true reality is, if your pet is well-behaved in public spaces and offers you emotional comfort, you are most likely eligible. A member of our team will evaluate your mental health history, current symptoms, and the impact of your current symptoms on your daily life. From there, we will make a clinical recommendation to certify your pet or not, all in good faith.
What are the practical benefits of ESAs?
The Fair Housing Act requires landlords or management companies to allow the possession of animals that work, provide assistance for, or perform tasks that emotionally benefit people with qualified mental health symptoms and disorders.
Under the Fair Housing Act, housing providers cannot charge fees, require pet deposits, or impose weight or breed restrictions on emotional support animals.
